Oxted Band is pleased to announce the latest ‘Stars of Brass’ concert:
Saturday 16th April
St John’s Church, Hurst Green, Surrey RH8 9EA
7.30pm
This year’s featured soloist is Ben Dixon, principal EEb tuba of the world famous Black Dyke Band. Ben joined Black Dyke in 2013, and following 3 years studying performance at Salford, he received the Harry Mortimer Brass Performance Prize and the Roy Newsome Conducting Prize. He is now continuing his education at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying for a Masters degree in performance.
This will be MD Darrell Scholes’ first Spring Concert with Oxted, having joined the band in May 2015. He brings a wealth of brass band experience and after a busy summer of fetes, bandstands and local events, the band is building on his first concert last Autumn when they featured soloists from within their own ranks. The programme will include traditional brass band items, music from the classics and from popular shows and musicals – something for everyone!
Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children,
Available from 07584 246501 or on the door.
We look forward to seeing you in April for what promises to be another evening of sparkling brass fare from Oxted Band and our special guest soloist.
Prior to the Spring Concert, the band will be making their annual appearance in the garden of co-chairman of West Ham FC, David Gold, on Sunday 10th April. Mr Gold, who lives in Caterham, opens his garden every year in aid of the National Garden Scheme charity and St Catherine’s Hospice.
