scaba made a welcome return to live, local, music-making today with our first event since the 2020 Spring contest.
10 bands played to a packed audience today in a new venue at Reigate College. We were joined by scaba VP Sharon McCallum with her popular trade stand and all enjoyed some wonderful music making and catching up with banding friends.
Speaking before the results, scaba Chairperson Andrew Wilson and adjudicator Chris King both praised and thanked all the bands for making it onto the stage today, and recognised what an achievement this was after the challenges of the past two years.
Mindful that, for most of the competing bands, today was a run-out ahead of the London & Southern Counties regional contest in 2 weeks, Chris King gave honest and constructive comments from the stage and was happy to stay and chat through his feedback at the end if the day – a generous offer which many MDs and players took advantage of!
