It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of scaba Vice President Pam Taylor on 14th November.
Pam was the wife of John Taylor, an active member of both scaba and the Burgess Hill (latterly Mid Sussex) brass band, and our Chairman for many years. Not a player herself, Pam was a loyal supporter of her husband’s banding and became a valued member of the scaba team. She was a familiar and friendly face at our contests and other events for many years, quietly and efficiently getting on with whatever job was needed – from greeting bands at reception to making the tea! Following John’s passing in 2002, Pam accepted the honorary position of Vice President of the Association and continued to follow our activities with interest.
Pam was well respected and much loved in her home town of Burgess Hill. She was active in the local community and with the Burgess Hill Royal British Legion (particularly the Women’s Section), an interest she maintained after moving to Heathfield. She will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to know her and by her family who have our deepest sympathy.
Pam’s funeral will be held on Monday 11th December.
There will be a service at Downs Crematorium, Bear Road, Brighton at 11.00am followed by a Memorial Service at St Johns Church, Burgess Hill at 1.00pm with music by the Mid Sussex Band.
The family have requested flowers or donations to the Chestnut Tree Hospice for Terminally Ill Children, which can be made c/o Heathfield Funeral Services: Hailsham Road, Heathfield, TN21 8AE; tel. 01435 862648
