Saturday 25th April saw 60 bands from around the country descend on the Winter Gardens in Blackpool for the Spring Festival, the three qualifying contests for British Open Brass Band Championships.
Huge congratulations go to scaba member band Friary Guildford and their MD Chris King on winning the Senior Trophy and taking one step closer to ‘the Open’ with a stylish and musical performance of Berlioz’ Les Francs Juges.
This superb result follows Friary’s clean sweep at our Solo, Quartet & Ensemble contest in February and 2nd place at the LSC Regional contest, qualifying for the National Championship finals at the Royal Albert Hall in October. Their last competition of the season will be scaba’s annual Entertainment Contest on 18th May at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley.
