Changes to scaba Registration Rules

Following feedback from several member bands and extensive discussions over the past year, a decision was made at the EGM on 26th January to amend the rules around registration for bands competing in scaba contests.

These rule changes will come into effect immediately and apply to bands entering the Spring contest in April.

The full rules have been circulated to member bands with the Spring contest schedule, and posted in the resources section of this website.
The main points are outlined here:

From March 2014, any band registered with an accredited national Registry (viz: Brass Band Players Ltd, Welsh Registry, Scottish Registry) must also use that Registry to enter scaba contests.

The scaba registry will be open only to member bands who do not belong to an accredited National Registry.

Connected bands (eg “A” and “B” bands or any other subsidiary band except Youth Bands) must be wholly independently registered and each band must use the same Registry.

Any player may only be registered and compete with one band, except as qualified in the rules for junior/youth/school bands and under the Day Transfer Rules.

Youth bands are not required to register their players.

The scaba registry and accredited national registries all allow a maximum of 40 registered players.
