How can local Brass bands help Children in need, while having fun doing what Bands do best?
Well, several Sussex Brass bands (including 3 active members of scaba and a Youth band – Patcham) have found a way to do just that – run a BRASSBANDATHON!
For 12 hours starting at 10am on Saturday 5th October 2013, 8 different bands will take turns to play sets of entertaining music. As the venue is a spacious cafe/restaurant (St. Pauls, Chapel Road, Worthing) members of the public will be on hand to lend support while enjoying their meals. Last year’s event had the feel of a mini-Festival (Glastonbury minus the mud!)
Pudsey will be in attendance of course, and other events include a special raffle, face painting, art exhibition, children’s colouring comp and a bookstall too.
The grand finale is a massed band performance from 9pm to 10pm – not to be missed!
This special event is hosted and run by Worthing Silver Band led by their conductor Ms. Laura King.
All proceeds go to the BBC Children in Need appeal. Donations can be made on the day or at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/WorthingSilverBand
