The competition will be open to all bands who are paid-up members of scaba for the current year.

To win the prize, a band must compete in both the Spring Contest and the Autumn Contest, in the same year, and score the lowest number of points as detailed below.

At the Spring Contest and the Autumn Contest, points will be awarded according to the band’s placing for the Test Piece, i.e. 1 point for the first place, 2 for second place and so on. Bands who play up to a higher section at these contests will be awarded points relating to their place in their own graded section, irrespective of if they were placed higher in the higher section. If March and Hymn Tune Contests are held at the contests, then the results of these will count also, with separate points awarded in the same way as for the test piece.

The placings of non-member bands will be ignored when allocating points, as will the placings of scaba member bands who subsequently become ineligible to win the prize, through not taking part in both contests.

In the event of a tie, at the conclusion of the Autumn Contest a minus point will be awarded to the band which leads the section having the greatest number of bands in contention in that contest.

In the event of a further tie, a minus point will be awarded for winning a Conductor’s Prize at the Autumn Contest

Member bands competing in the contests who are subsequently disqualified will be awarded last place points.

Bands must have paid their Annual Membership Fee before the day of the Spring Contest.

The prize will be presented to the winning band during the final prize giving at the Autumn Contest.

IN THE EVENT OF A DISPUTE CONCERNING THE RESULT OF THIS COMPETITION, THE DECISION OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF scaba WILL BE FINAL.
