DESCRIPTION:About SYCB\n\nscaba funds the Southern Counties Youth Band to give young brass banders aged 11-21 a unique opportunity to improve their playing ability whilst having fun making music in a band of players their own age from all over the South East. \nRehearsals are held on Sundays\, giving players the opportunity to play a wide range of music under the direction of our excellent team of conductors and tutors\, all volunteers from local bands. We rehearse in different bandrooms in Kent and Surrey to keep things as accessible as possible for players from all over our region. \nNew players are always welcome at SCYB! If you're interested in joining the band\, or just coming along for a taster\, please JOIN HERE or contact Alex Sears: scabasecretary@gmail.com \n\nMembership\n\nMembership\nMembership of the band is open to anyone aged 11 to 21 who plays a brass band instrument\, and we recommend at least grade 4 standard. You do not have to be in a scaba member band to take part in SCYB (although subs will be a little cheaper if you are!). \nNew players are always welcome at SCYB!\nMembership is renewed annually\, running from 1st September (or whenever you join the band) until the following 31st August. There is an annual membership fee of £60\, discounted to £50 if you play in a scaba member band. New members are welcome to join the band at any time during the year. \n\nConduct & Behaviour\n\nConduct & behaviour\nA high standard of behaviour is expected at all times. \nMembers are expected to show care and consideration towards other members of the band\, Musical Directors\, tutors and volunteers. \nDrinking alcohol\, smoking\, vaping and using or possessing drugs are not permitted at any rehearsal or event associated with the band. \nMembers are requested NOT to photograph or film any other member of the band with the intention of exhibiting images on any social networking internet site. \nMembers should not discriminate against other members or adults in any way. \nMembers must not engage in any activity that may constitute bullying or aggressive behaviour.\nContravention of these basic rules or any acts which\, in the opinion of the tutors are detrimental to the proper running or reputation of the band\, may result in the suspension of membership or expulsion from the band. \nMembers are responsible at all times for the safety of their instruments and possessions. scaba and the SCYB tutors can accept no responsibility for any loss of\, or damage to\, any member’s possessions whilst attending any rehearsal\, concert or function of the band. \nAll tutors and adult volunteers connected with the band will operate under and within the scaba Safeguarding Policy (details available on request).
